Last night we FINALLY had Eli's Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts, after two cancellations due to weather. It was a super fun event! The theme was pirates!
The boys each made a cake with their parent for a cake decorating contest, and the cakes were then auctioned off as a fundraiser. Most of the boys did pirate-themed cakes. Eli chose to do a WWE cake. He thought it was "perfect"! He won third place in the division that allowed you to use non-edible props.
We had a great meal and then the boys did skits. Eli's den did one where each boy came out and the cubmaster said, "Hi, [insert boy's name], nice [insert piece of clothing here]! Where did you get it?" And each boy said, "JC Penney". After all the boys did that same thing, Eli came out in nothing but his robe and socks. The cubmaster said, "Hi! You are new here. What's your name?" Eli said, "My name is JC Penney, and I want my clothes back!" It was really cute!
Then it was time for the awards. Eli received his beads for completing all of his achievements, and his Bear badge. He will advance to Webelos I in the summer.
He also pinned me with my Bear pin.
I wish you could have been there. Eli is a special boy who appreciates life more than ANYONE! While he was waiting in line to receive his awards, he had his hands linked together like he was praying to God and he was shaking his hands like he was saying, "Please, God, let me get some awards!" (I guess he didn't know he was going to actually get any.) Then as she announced each award (he actually got four), he did fist pumps, and said, "Yes!", and by the time he was done he was crouched down on the floor. My dad said he did everything but the splits. The other boys just kind of took their awards, said thanks, and went on. Not Eli. He was just so excited and proud of himself! He is truly precious!
We are looking forward to another great year of Scouts!

ReplyDeleteWish I would have known that you were waiting on Vintage Lady Bug, I would have loaned you mine. I still have not read it, but doubt that I get to it before May. I still have to read the one that came out BEFORE Vintage! :)
