Last Sail Before the Veil

Last Saturday night we had Kyndal's bachelorette party. As all of the wedding party are under 21, and we had some grandmas with us, we decided not to hire the strippers and went to The Melting Pot on the Plaza in Kansas City instead.


We had such a nice night together! Along for the party were my mom, my friend Jessica, Taylar (Dawson's girlfriend and bridesmaid), Cassidy (bridesmaid), Brynne (sister and bridesmaid), Kyndal's future mother-in-law Pam, Paige (future sister-in-law) and her baby Lexi, Karen (future grandmother-in-law), Jeannette (Pam's sister), and Kathryn (girlfriend of Collin's uncle).





As our reservation was running late, the restaurant treated us to drinks.



Then once seated we quickly decorated the table and enjoyed our cheese and chocolate courses. Yum, yum, yum!!!


We asked each of the guests to bring Kyndal something that she could take on her cruise. She received everything from sunscreen to things for Collin to enjoy on their wedding night, if you know what I mean.


It was a beautiful night wishing Kyndal a happy "bon voyage" to her single life.

Tonight is the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and tomorrow Kyndal and Collin officially say their wedding vows in the presence of family at a small church ceremony. We leave for a cruise on Saturday evening, and they will have a symbolic ceremony on the beach in Cozumel, Mexico, on Tuesday.

So excited for my girl as she takes this next very important step in her life.

We found our groove with math this year. I found a curriculum that both of the kids respond well to and seem to enjoy (as much as one can enjoy math). We have spent the whole year learning the ins and outs of multiplication and were just a few lessons away from being ready to move onto the next year-long level on division. Veritas Press Self-Paced History: Old Testament and Ancient Egypt (Schoolhouse Review)

For the past several weeks we have been reviewing Veritas Press Self-Paced History: Old Testament and Ancient Egypt and the Old Testament and Ancient Egypt Flashcards  from Veritas Press . As we were entering into our more easy-going summer schedule, and had just concluded a two-year Old Testament Bible course, I was happy to try out this product as it appeared to be something that Eli and Brynne could do together, alone, and would act as a review of the Old Testament presented in a different way. And I was right. Each Veritas Press Self-Paced History program includes 160 lessons teaching about 32 events in history. They are designed for children in grades 2-6, and it is recommended that the student be a minimum of 7 years of age at the time of the first lesson. Cells ~ It's What's for Dinner

Dawson made edible cells on Friday. He made an animal cell pizza ... and a plant cell chocolate chip cookie ... He reviewed what he's learned about cells the past two weeks, and I had dinner made by someone else. Win, win!! I am linking up at Science Sunday at Adventures in Mommydom.
