What needs to be done

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed right now. School starts in just over a month, and I have much preparation to do!
  • Finish American History curriculum (3/4 way done)
  • Make IEW notebook
  • Make reading genre requirements list and reading notebook
  • Finalize Apologia Biology schedule
  • Make art notebooks
  • Plan Brynne's first science unit
Yikes! I need about a week somewhere alone with my computer, the internet and my printer, with tons of notebooking supplies. Since I won't be getting that, I just need to get diligent in setting aside time to get these things done.

Anyone else feeling the pressure of a looming starting date?

UPDATE: As of August 11th, I have now completed the crossed-out items! I feel so much better! Almost done!

    Yup, I'm feeling the pain. I'm working on a history curriculum, scheduling out our math, English, and science. And I still need to figure out what we are using for logic! I've found that limiting my time on the computer actually helps me to focus more on what I have to get done!

    As each year passes, I seem to get more relaxed about the whole planning thing. (This is our 8th year homeschooling.) In fact, I still haven't finished ordering our curriculum for next year and I plan on starting in about 6 weeks. I have a "loose" schedule of "things" in my mind, but I don't usually plan in details because it always seems to change (and then I get frustrating with having to re-work everything). Hang in there! It'll all get done!

Eli's reading resource teacher shared a website with me yesterday that I would like to pass along. It's called ABCya . There are separate educational sections with fantastic games for ages kindergarten through 5th grade. I browsed the 2nd grade level, and it includes age-appropriate games about Letters, Numbers, Shapes, Geometry, Patterns, Mouse Manipulation, Art and Holiday games. There are lots and lots of fun and creative games for children to play. They are fun, but oh, so educational. Eli's favorite, in his short time playing it, was Create a Car . A lot of the games also have Apps available for purchase (99 cents for most of them) for the iPad and iPhone. I have been looking for another free website for games similar to Starfall , for some time. I think I have found it. I can feel confident having Eli and Brynne play these games.

Cells ~ It's What's for Dinner

Dawson made edible cells on Friday. He made an animal cell pizza ... and a plant cell chocolate chip cookie ... He reviewed what he's learned about cells the past two weeks, and I had dinner made by someone else. Win, win!! I am linking up at Science Sunday at Adventures in Mommydom.
