He has, generally, C's and D's on most of his schoolwork that involve worksheets, workbook pages and tests. But, he has straight A's on projects and labs.

I truly believe that Dawson will start excelling next year when he has 1:1 with you. He has already shown YOU that he is smart. He might not be good at worksheets but could it be that they bore him? I know they do me! Good for you for noticing that projects and hands-on approaches are better for him.
