Tuesday Coffee Chat ~ Easter

Happy Easter! Tell me about the best chocolate ever. Or, if you are the religious sort, share some special thoughts on this day.

I am not a connoisseur of chocolate. I like chocolate. But, really, any ol' chocolate will do. I prefer dark chocolate to milk chocolate and definitely the two of them over white chocolate (a bad white chocolate covered pretzel + alcohol incident from my past). Brynne received a cookies 'n cream bunny in her basket this year and she declared it to be the best!

I guess I am of the religious sort, but I really just don't have any special thoughts on this day to share. It is an important day for all Christians, celebrating the day our Savior conquered death that could not hold Him, raising Himself to sit at the right hand of God to begin the intercession for me with my Father and secure my place in Heaven. I do not take that for granted and try to celebrate that fact every day, not just on Easter.

This Easter Kyndal and Collin spent the weekend at his parents', Dawson spent the weekend in Oklahoma with his girlfriend, and Rick stayed in Oklahoma to rest up from the exhausting couple of weeks due to the passing of his mother and some changes at work.

So, it was just Eli, Brynne and myself on Easter.

We decorated eggs on Friday night.

Brynne went to the park to hunt eggs in the town's hunt on Saturday.

On Sunday morning they dove into their Easter baskets.

Then we went to Sunday school where we introduced the class to our Resurrection Eggs, helped hide eggs for the younger classes, and took a few photos.

We hunted our own Easter eggs after Sunday school. It was about 40 degrees outside and raining, so it was a quick hunt.

The kids played in the afternoon while I took a nap and did laundry. I also went over to watch my nieces color their eggs.

After a visit with my parents and some long-time friends of theirs, I took Eli and Brynne to Applebee's for dinner.

We had a nice day.

CTC Math {Schoolhouse Review}

We found our groove with math this year. I found a curriculum that both of the kids respond well to and seem to enjoy (as much as one can enjoy math). We have spent the whole year learning the ins and outs of multiplication and were just a few lessons away from being ready to move onto the next year-long level on division. And then an opportunity to review the 12 Month Family Plan from CTC Math became available. To be honest, I wasn't very enthusiastic. I mean, why mess with the methods that have worked so well? When I was chosen to review the product I didn't go into it with the level of enthusiasm that it deserved. We have been using a dvd/workbook curriculum with great success. The 12 Month Family Plan from CTC Math is a web based curriculum. As we have not had a lot of luck with those types of programs, I went into this review with a negative attitude. Veritas Press Self-Paced History: Old Testament and Ancient Egypt (Schoolhouse Review)

For the past several weeks we have been reviewing Veritas Press Self-Paced History: Old Testament and Ancient Egypt and the Old Testament and Ancient Egypt Flashcards from Veritas Press . As we were entering into our more easy-going summer schedule, and had just concluded a two-year Old Testament Bible course, I was happy to try out this product as it appeared to be something that Eli and Brynne could do together, alone, and would act as a review of the Old Testament presented in a different way. And I was right. Each Veritas Press Self-Paced History program includes 160 lessons teaching about 32 events in history. They are designed for children in grades 2-6, and it is recommended that the student be a minimum of 7 years of age at the time of the first lesson. Cells ~ It's What's for Dinner

Dawson made edible cells on Friday. He made an animal cell pizza ... and a plant cell chocolate chip cookie ... He reviewed what he's learned about cells the past two weeks, and I had dinner made by someone else. Win, win!! I am linking up at Science Sunday at Adventures in Mommydom.

I think you said the most special and best thought: we remember the sacrifice on the cross Every Day! :)

It sounds like you had a lovely Easter holiday. All the good things of treats and family and church and fun.
I have not coloured eggs in years and I love the ninja turtles ones!! I guess I had better get on my game next year.
