One thing that we did last year, that we loved, was our Artist studies using the Usborne Art Treasury. We enjoy spending one day reading about the artist and preparing a notebooking page.
The fun part about the Usborne book is that it presents an opportunity to create a similar work of art based on the medium used by the artist. So on the second day, we prepare our work of art.
The Whistler art was Spattery Fireworks based on his work "Nocturne in Black and Gold (the Falling Rocket)", painted in 1875.
Since we had been studying reflection while rowing The Story About Ping, we were particularly interested in making reflections of the buildings. After adding some smoke and spattery fireworks, our nocturnal works were complete.
I love the artwork! What fun!
