P is for Porch

Although there were a lot of reasons I did not enjoy living in Oklahoma, my back Porch was something that I absolutely loved! If you couldn't find me in the house, I was very likely sitting on my back porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, reading a book, enjoying the nice breeze and quiet while the dogs either napped beside me or played in the yard. It was heaven. Our view was lovely and peaceful!

Living in Missouri I do miss the serenity and privacy of that back porch. Unfortunately, our views here just are not much to look at. BUT, I have worked hard to make our front porch all I want it to be. In fact, it was the first thing I did when we moved here. I had it set up before I even had our beds put together. THAT'S how important a peaceful and enjoyable porch is to me.

Here are some photos of our front porch. I still have some things I would like to do. We are going to paint it white, stain the floor, change the mailbox and exterior light fixture, paint the front door (maybe even replace it with something more vintage someday). But, for now, I love it!

    LOVE your porch. We also have a front porch and that is the main focal point of our home as well....complete with the porch swing. To me a front porch says, "You are welcome here".

    Have a wonderful 4th in your little home town!

    How inviting! It looks so relaxing! We don't have a porch here at all. I miss it! I always enjoy seeing your decorating pictures! You have a talent for pulling things together and making them look so cozy!

    Our front porch is a bit smaller, and, in our area, people don't usually sit outside (it's rare to even see neighbors for days or weeks), but we love our swing and sitting out there in the evenings. I love the rustic cozy look of yours! I'm inspired to work on ours a bit. :)

    Our front porch is TINY! We just stick to the back yard. I love your porch, though! I would sit there and drink my coffee or tea in the morning!

We found our groove with math this year. I found a curriculum that both of the kids respond well to and seem to enjoy (as much as one can enjoy math). We have spent the whole year learning the ins and outs of multiplication and were just a few lessons away from being ready to move onto the next year-long level on division. Veritas Press Self-Paced History: Old Testament and Ancient Egypt (Schoolhouse Review)

For the past several weeks we have been reviewing Veritas Press Self-Paced History: Old Testament and Ancient Egypt and the Old Testament and Ancient Egypt Flashcards  from Veritas Press . As we were entering into our more easy-going summer schedule, and had just concluded a two-year Old Testament Bible course, I was happy to try out this product as it appeared to be something that Eli and Brynne could do together, alone, and would act as a review of the Old Testament presented in a different way. And I was right. Each Veritas Press Self-Paced History program includes 160 lessons teaching about 32 events in history. They are designed for children in grades 2-6, and it is recommended that the student be a minimum of 7 years of age at the time of the first lesson. Cells ~ It's What's for Dinner
