Your nickname ... Growing up it was Nikki. When I went to college I ditched it to be more sophisticated with my given name, Nicole. That worked well until we moved back to my childhood hometown three years ago. Guess who I am again? Yep ... Nikki. And there is no fighting it.

Your eye color ... Blue.

Your hair color ... Well, that one's a little tougher. I am a natural dishwater blonde. With a little help, I am a highlighted, sun-kissed blonde.

One fact about you ... Today is my anniversary! Rick and I have been married for 14 years. It's been a great ride and I am excited to see where our journey takes us next.



Favorite color ... Green, mostly lime green. It's my "signature color". Anytime I can buy something in a particular color, I go for lime green. Look ... Rick was even wearing my favorite color in the above photo.

Favorite place ... My house. I could stay here and not leave it ever.



Favorite celebrity ... I have a Top 5: Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Shemar Moore, Mark Wahlberg, any bald guy. I always tell people that if they wanted to spend a ridiculous amount of money on me that I would like to spend an entire day with Tim Gunn. In the movie about my life I want Diane Lane to play me and Vin Diesel to play Rick.

Favorite animal ... I love birds. I just want to sit and watch them all day.

Favorite song ... Favorite songs change constantly, don't they? I have favorite 80's hair band songs, favorite disco-vibe songs (Abba), favorite mushy love songs, favorite contemporary Christian songs, favorite country songs, etc. Right now I am loving the song Take Your Time by Sam Hunt. I am constantly singing it.




Favorite book ... It's hard to pick a favorite, but how about Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. In the past few years I have really loved The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom and The Aviator's Wife by Melanie Benjamin. My favorite author is Kristin Hannah. My childhood favorite book was A Room for Cathy by Catherine Woolley. It was my favorite because I always wanted my own bedroom (I shared with my sister) and Cathy finally got hers. I have an old paperback of it on my bookshelf.

    Happy anniversary!! We are on year 33 or something ridiculous and I can honestly say it only gets better. :) I think we have a lot in common- I could stay in my little cocoon (my house) and never leave and be totally content. I also love to sit on the porch and watch the bird’s come and go.

    Happy anniversary! I'm kinda fond of my house too! There are times when I long for winter and snow so I can stay home without running here and there...in my PJs with crocheting and a book...and the computer.

    Ahh, you're a homeschool mom. Me, too. Well, I'm a veteran homeschool all graduated and out of the house. Those were hard, but good times. Take Your Time is a new favorite of mine, but I love music and it's just hard to say what's my favorite from day-to-day. It was good meeting you from Les' Tuesday Coffee Chat. We found our groove with math this year. I found a curriculum that both of the kids respond well to and seem to enjoy (as much as one can enjoy math). We have spent the whole year learning the ins and outs of multiplication and were just a few lessons away from being ready to move onto the next year-long level on division. And then an opportunity to review the 12 Month Family Plan from  CTC Math became available. To be honest, I wasn't very enthusiastic. I mean, why mess with the methods that have worked so well? When I was chosen to review the product I didn't go into it with the level of enthusiasm that it deserved. We have been using a dvd/workbook curriculum with great success. The 12 Month Family Plan from CTC Math is a web based curriculum. As we have not had a lot of luck with those types of programs, I went into this review with a negative attitude. Veritas Press Self-Paced History: Old Testament and Ancient Egypt (Schoolhouse Review)

For the past several weeks we have been reviewing Veritas Press Self-Paced History: Old Testament and Ancient Egypt and the Old Testament and Ancient Egypt Flashcards  from Veritas Press . As we were entering into our more easy-going summer schedule, and had just concluded a two-year Old Testament Bible course, I was happy to try out this product as it appeared to be something that Eli and Brynne could do together, alone, and would act as a review of the Old Testament presented in a different way. And I was right. Each Veritas Press Self-Paced History program includes 160 lessons teaching about 32 events in history. They are designed for children in grades 2-6, and it is recommended that the student be a minimum of 7 years of age at the time of the first lesson. Cells ~ It's What's for Dinner
