A Family Weekend

We had a wonderful family weekend! We needed it so badly! Kyndal and Collin came Friday evening and brought some movies. After the little kids went to bed, us bigger kids stayed up and watched Identify Thief. Have you seen it? It's hilarious! Melissa McCarthy is so funny!

We had a full day scheduled on Saturday. Kyndal went to a job shadow at her cosmetology school in the morning, and the rest of us met her for a late lunch at Pizza Hut. We had a great time scarfing down pizza and playing silly games! At the end of the meal I gathered us all together just to tell them all (including Kyndal's boyfriend and Dawson's girlfriend) how important I think it is that we are a strong family that binds together and always turns to each other for support. The kids thought that I had a big announcement. One asked if I was pregnant .... Um, NO! and then Dawson said, "If we are moving back to Oklahoma, I'M NOT GOING!" I thought that was funny because exactly one year ago he was convinced I was ruining his life by moving us here! No, we aren't going anywhere. Our Family Day was exactly that ... a Family Day.

After lunch we went and bought movie snacks and then went to the movies to see Despicable Me 2. It is a precious movie and we all loved it! We saw previews for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 and decided that we would make this movie our next Family Day.

When we got home the big kids watched another movie in Dawson's room, Rick hung Dawson's new door to his bedroom, and the little kids and I played a bunch of board games ... Yahtzee, Old Maid and Uno.

Sunday was spent playing more board games, playing Wii, and redecorating our sitting room. I will be posting some pictures of that room later this week. It might be everybody's favorite room. The kids were all gathered in there talking on Sunday night. Dawson said, "Our house is so cute!"

I see more fun family days in our future in our home. It was a great time together!

  2. Isn't that all that really matters........family time. It is so easy to spend time together in a house, but never really interact. What a WONDERFUL weekend!! And you are a wonderful mom! Can't wait to see your "new" room. I have a sitting room in our other house, but no one ever goes in there. I guess I need to make it more inviting! :)

We all know that in this crazy world of homeschooling, we need all the (adult) support we can get. Please leave a comment if you so wish!

Cells ~ It's What's for Dinner

Dawson made edible cells on Friday. He made an animal cell pizza ... and a plant cell chocolate chip cookie ... He reviewed what he's learned about cells the past two weeks, and I had dinner made by someone else. Win, win!! I am linking up at Science Sunday at Adventures in Mommydom.

A New Year, the Same Me

Happy 2019! It is that day of the year where everybody is up extra early starting their new exercise routine, eating only healthy foods, cracking open the pages of a new planner and Bible study, and debuting their Word for the year. You chuckle or roll your eyes, but you are doing at least three of these things. By the way, so am I. So let's start with the Word of the Year. Mine this year is Lagom. It's the Swedish word for "not too little, not too much, just right". It's a concept of being, doing or having just enough. So let's rewind to last New Year's Day. My Word was Might. And that's how I planned to tackle my year. And, I did. I worked out hard, I mommed hard, I traveled hard, I worked hard. And it was a good season. It prepared the way for this year. I accepted the Challenge I set for myself and succeeded. But, I don't need to keep up that pace. I am at a place in my life where I can kind of sit back and enjoy my life without f...
